DESCRIPTION:See link below to online bookings \n\n\n\nFor Telephone Bookings please call: 0333 666 3366 \n\n\n\nThe Grove Theatre Group are delighted to announce they are bringing their family favourite pantomime back to St Columb’s Hall.  The hall often referred to as ‘the people’s hall’ has been an intrinsic piece of the cultural\, architectural and historical fabric of Derry City since 1886 and has a rich pedigree in incubating and showcasing the creative of the city “city of song”. \n\n\n\nThe Grove has been producing pantomimes\, musicals and plays since the early 1980’s\, starting out in the Little Theatre within the hall\, and branching out to some of the biggest stages across the Northwest. The group have been performing pantomime from its inception\, only missing one year in its history due to the lockdown of 2020. SUMMARY:Maccana – The Unseen Growth of Winter
DESCRIPTION:The Unseen Growth of Winter is a 16-date all-island tour of original piano music\, presented in a 70-minute live performance by the composer Maccana. \n\n\n\nCaomhán Maccana is a composer and producer from the Irish borderlands. Shaped by his work in film\, radio and live performance\, he creates cinematic piano music coloured by both Celtic and classical traditions. His compositions draw comparisons with composers such as Erik Satie\, Hania Rani and Arvo Pärt. \n\n\n\nOver the past two decades\, Maccana has worked on productions with the BBC\, RTÉ and Newstalk\, receiving his most recent award at the 2025 Celtic Media Festival in Cornwall. His work has taken him across Ireland\, the UK\, the USA\, Estonia and Mexico\, including an Arts Council-supported collaboration at the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia\, the oldest music institution in Latin America. \n\n\n\nThe concert features all original works by the composer\, including scores such as Tras el Invierno\, Athrú\, Ven a Mí and Tonnta Dé\, alongside new music developed during a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre\, including the title piece ‘The Unseen Growth of Winter’ and Éan\, written in memory of Moya Brennan of Clannad. \n\n\n\nHis 2026 album\, ‘Maccana\, Live in Lady Guthrie’s Drawing Room’\, presents his scores and compositions in an intimate recital setting\, performed on an early 20th-century grand piano. \n\n\n\nListen to music: maccana.bandcamp.com \n\n\n\nWatch performances: @maccanacomposer \n\n\n\nTour information: maccana.ie/tour
